There were 103,028 men and women in federal or state prisons in Florida in 2013, an increase of 1.1 percent above 2012, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Playing a critical role in ending veteran homelessness

Successfully changing the life of an area veteran through The Transition House’s Supportive Services for Veteran Families program has gotten the attention of the U.S. Veterans Administration.

It was Yvette DeJesus, supervisor of the program at The Transition House, who helped an Army veteran who had become homeless after being released from prison.
